The Bentleys, Live@Chessvolt Studios

by Landry on October 6, 2008

bentleys_01_luxury-wafersThe Bentleys are what happen when  Radiohead and Sonic Youth meet The Beatles in the parking lot behind the bowling alley, where Major Tom’s hanging out in a sleeping bag occasionally joining in.

This LA band is Grossly underrated.

They may be pretty cleancut, polite and organized (three of the four have been playing together since they were just little kids), and they do possess the necessary defining elements of an  indie rock band – energetic performance (even in the studio), drums, bass, guitars, groovy but judicious pedal effects, and eerily good lead vocals – but The Bentleys are a coherent bunch with a tight sound all their own. Their distinctive style marks each song, yet each song has strong enough legs to stand alone. The Bentleys write and play songs about real stuff, far from sappy and definitely not fluffy. If you had to choose 3 Bentleys songs to take with you on a road trip, whatever you chose, you’d feel like you’d excluded a few siblings or close friends from your birthday party. In other words, listen to them all. They’re all favorites.

The Bentleys are AWESOME! All the sounds they make mesh so well together to make rockin’ tunes!
They are very much loved in the Pacific Northwest!
