King Khan and the Shrines, Land of the Freak

by Landry on April 22, 2009

Big big big and awesomely in your face, King Khan and the Shrines evoke a brimmingly sloppy James Brown/Jimi Hendrix/Elvis taco, the kind that makes you throw napkins and caution to the wind and party with abandon.

Download the track and have fun: Land of the Freak

On their myspace page, the band lineup is listed as: King Khan – Himself, Bamboorella – Gogo Queen of the Underworld, Ben Ra – Space Sax, Big Fred Roller – Big Sax, Till Timm – Tn’T, Fredovitch – Orgasm, Riddiman – Bass, John Boy Adonis – Skins, Ron Streeter – Percussions, Simon Wojan – Trumpet, Guitar and last but not least Hondo Swilley – Gay Blade.

The whole album, King Khan and the Shrines, What Is?! is streaming at this site, replete with videos, cleverisms and claims to capture his essence, such as, “King Khan & The Shrines have been spreading their love like peanut butter since 1999.”

King Khan and the Shrines are touring the US now with a stop at the Sasquatch festival May 23rd and two shows at the Echo in LA, May 29th and 30th.
