Premature Trackulation: The Paper Raincoat, Rewind

by Landry on April 7, 2009

The Paper Raincoat is the quirky progeny of Brooklyn songwriters Amber Rubarth and Alex Wong.

Their storyline developed around a central character (Grace) has blossomed into a string of songs told by the pair in narration of the character’s interface with and experiences in the world.

The danger of a project such as this is excessive theatrics or emotional disconnect. Rubarth and Wong, however, defeat that possibility, sincerely entrenched in the pages of this interesting and accessible story.

Rewind‘s spunky carnival flair offers an authentic vignette of an endearing, palpably believable human being.
