When we recorded Silver Darling, Live@ the Hangar in Sacramento, it was still freezing cold – both outside and in – as evidenced by their stylish wintry getups. This is the first recording of their new song, Brick and Mortar, a devilishy inspired tune with anxiety provoking, dramatically yanking electric guitar riffs, super-warm Rickenbacker bass, trombone and keys, steady tambourine-laden drumbeat and a lead singer who’s seen the holy ghost and wants to testify – hallelujah – he’s here to tell you today. Even with the intense glossolalial lyrical spouting, the band’s energy is playful and fun.
