Canadian grown The Duhks (sounds like the animals that go “quack”) combine hillbilly-soul with environmental sustainability like no other band out there. Touring a festival circuit on biodiesel, The Duhks just played Stagecoach in Indio. We’re happy to have them for a live session in the studio this week before they continue on their quest to enlighten audiences with rootsy music, organic wares and comestibles, and a mission to reduce, renew and offset.
From their latest album, Fast Paced World (Sugar Hill, 2008),
Mighty Storm sticks, thickly soulful, a story that could have sprouted in lore on a cotton plantation in the deep south.
My favorite, an amazing Leonard Cohen cover from The Duhks (Sugar Hill, 2005): Everybody Knows
