I like Datarock.
Norweigan, retrofuturistic, Devo-Heads du jour, the Bergen band, aided by Apple’s iPod Nano spots, has blasted off a bit. They are currently touring their pretty four-some with danceable tunes through Canada, down the coast and back to sister-city, Seattle. Some call them neo-political (The Blog - c’mon, I beg to differ. There’s nothing past observation and regurgitation to be found here) some call them a rip-off (True Stories is lyrically nothing but Talking Heads song titles)…I find them straight forward, enjoyable, benign. There’s really no need to examine possible depth. Datarock’s a bunch of clean guys who put on a multi-lobe-stroking show and lay down beats that keep you moving.
