Emily Neveu – double, triple the pleasure, plus Lefse

by Landry on August 27, 2009

Oh, no, no, no. I don’t believe she’s a twin. I don’t mean she’s a stripper or hermaphrodite or anything weird like that. Heavens no. I mean here are Two, two! amazing tracks from Emily Neveu.

Swallowing A Swallow [mp3] - a beautifully simple, old-style round of piano, accordian and Neveu’s velvety soporific voice.

I Wonder If The Children Know [mp3] – Driven by piano ripples and surreall vocals, this song instantly triggers an alpha state as Neveu lulls, singing “We all dream the same dream.” Neveu could probably sing about toilets and dirty socks and still hold my attention.

Aaaaargh. I can’t help myself….let’s make it Three. Here’s a link to a fine cover of Radiohead’s Idioteque [mp3]. Entrancing.

Where has she come from? Well, Encinitas. Calico Horse. Indian Moon. And now Lefse Records, Neveu’s kickin’ label responsible for my newfound lust. In case you didn’t catch it earlier, you really should go over to the Lefse site where you can sample all of their artists firsthand, free. They’re offering an EIGHTEEN track compilation which includes Swallowing a Swallow (above), a Calico Horse track, and much much more. With variety. Go see now. Click it.
