Sean Bones is a weird, wet reggae dream fulfilled of Sean Sullivan aka Sean Bones, lead singer and guitarist of his self-titled group, lead guitarist for sweet indie rock band, Sam Champion and star (the lead, ladies and gentlemen) opposite Norah Jones of indie flick, Wah Do Dem. It seems Sean Bones, New York guitar player, blinked one day and accidentally found himself creating reggae music for a line of swimwear, signing to Frenchkiss to fill out a full-length reggae album and acting the main character in a movie set in Jamaica with a girlfriend-character played by none other than Blue Note‘s darling.
Easy-going and infectiously rhythmic, Sean Bones’ songs bring relaxed fun, nice for summertime or anytime you’re in the mood to escape from your regular pace. I thought I’d say my fave of the pack is Coco. Then I decided it’s Cry, Cry, Cry. Now I’m pretty sure it’s Easy Street. The name, which viscerally reminds me of Miss Hannigan from a poor adaptation of Annie, bugs me, but the song undulates, the closest thing to a Red Stripe in hand and sand between the toes.
