Jets Overhead’s Luxury Wafers session went over like a velvety spa treatment involving the pouring of heated oil across the body’s surface – warm and enjoyable. We learned from Adam and Antonia, whose voices mingle and intertwine loosely with the band’s luscious, mellow pop arrangements causing goosebumps, that they celebrated their recent marriage in the same area Peter and I had honeymooned. We talked about family, ceremonies, food, Mayan pyramids, clothing-optional resorts and pristine, private beaches with clear water and white sand. The gentle kindness that flowed easily in conversation from the complementary pair and their soft-spoken, smiling group was no departure from the silky energy of their songs.
Smooth and luxuriant, the Victoria, BC crew began to play and just kept going. Before we knew it, Jets Overhead had laid down ten enveloping, ambient nuggets of blissful musical expression. Winnowing the song selection according to superiority of quality is an impossible task – every single one of the ten beams with luster.
The band: Adam Kittredge on vocals and guitar, Jocelyn Greenwood on bass, Piers Henwood on guitar, Antonia Freybe-Smith on vocals and keyboard, Luke Renshaw on drums.
