Superchunk Neopolitan Aural Delights.

A Grave With No Name

Forgive Me [mp3] - Le Loup. Now you can buy Le Loup's album, Family , (Hardly Art, 9/22/09). Not only is the cover art kaleidoscopically vibrant and Magic Eye-like, but also included in the package is a darling little pin for your jean jacket or tote. You can always count on Hardly Art for a classy-cool touch.Click HERE for more Le Loup with tour dates.

Let's Go Surfing [mp3] - The Drums, a bunch of Brooklyn boys who embrace the simple '50s aesthetic and pair it with just enough echo and contemporary synthetic goodies. Love the infectious whistle line and summertime theme, fireworks and all. I Felt Stupid [mp3] is the newest in superpop out from The Drums. Feels like 2009's Wham! If you're digging, go see the Let's Go Surfing video.

Genesis 3:23 [mp3] - The Mountain Goats from their upcoming Life of the World to Come (4AD, 10/6/09), a cathartic and uplifting collection of 12 songs named for books of the bible, folk in nature, written by John Darnielle, a man who "sat down and wrote songs about what happens when you feel sick in your spirit but you're not sure if "spirit" is really a meaningful term."

Open Water [mp3] - A Grave With No Name. This song's catchy, way lo-fi, with a playful, attractively high-toned male voice recurrently singing, "I'd love to." How nice. Get the whole record, Mountain Debris, from Lefse Records in November (11/17/09).

Also out on Lefse at the same time, 'slacker-fuzzed lullabyes' from San Diego's Tape Deck Mountain. Here's Ghost Colony [mp3]. The record's called Ghost.

Slow Doomsday [mp3] - Elvis Perkins in Dearland from the upcoming The Doomsday (XL Recordings, 10/20/09). A nice way to leave off for now. Soulful roots gospel with rich instrumentation. You decide - perhaps it'll make you want to get up off the pew and sway, suck crawfish heads down by the crick or maybe dip yourself in waters of renewal.
